Welfare Centers

Welfare centers.jpg

A person’s formative years affect her/his future and the future of society. Therefore, the quality of education during these years is extremely important. Every child has a right to a safe place and optimal development, regardless of religion, race, sex, and civil status

General Information

Lasova has undertaken to establish four welfare clubs in South Tel Aviv, intended for the children of asylum seekers and undocumented residents of the city.
Ages 3-6. These are children from families that suffer from severe economic and social hardship, and are in risk situations.

Afterschool Welfare Centers

Afterschool Welfare Centers

The Afterschool Welfare Centers are educational-therapeutic frameworks. Complementary, after hours of the municipal kindergarten for children of asylum seekers and those without status aged 3-6 years. The goals are to provide a complementary educational, developmental, physical, and emotional response to children at risk, to grant an opportunity for normal development, and to reduce gaps.

Each club has a maximum of 15 children. The centers operate a consistent and stable agenda. The children receive nutrition (a hot lunch and a catered meal), activities, enrichment, classes, and a variety of fun and positive experiences. They are given emotional care, parental guidance, and intervention in times of crisis.

The centers operated by two women staff: a leader and an assistant with professional accompaniment by a professional team.

Two centers at 5 Lishansky St. Tel Aviv (in Eshkol Ganim in Levinsky Garden).

Two centers at 23 Mosiah St. Tel Aviv (in Eshkol Ganim Kinneret, Hatikva neighborhood).

On regular school days, the club operates from Sunday to Thursday from 14:00 to 18:00, picking up the children from the kindergartens at 13:45.

During the holidays, the club operates at the same time as Tel Aviv Municipality’s after-hours, Sunday-Thursday 8:00-13:30. Outside of Passover and the second half of August, activity in the clubs takes place throughout the year.P

The cellular revolution led by former Minister Moshe Kahlon led to a significant reduction in the cost of cellular data plans, but left hundreds of thousands of disadvantaged people who do not have a bank account and/or credit card, and those who cannot register as regular subscribers with the cellular data companies.

Tel-Lasova was established to provide a solution for anyone who cannot give a standing order or does not have a credit card. These people had to buy pay-as-you-go cards and pay twice the sum for their calls and cellular data.

Tel-Lasova

The Lasova card project is intended to guarantee food for severely underprivileged people who have exhausted their ability to earn money, while maintaining their dignity. A Lasova card looks like a regular credit card and enables the person to buy groceries (except for alcohol and cigarettes) at their neighborhood supermarket, like all the regular customers, at a pre-determined fixed monthly sum.

The Lasova card is also a separate and independent service offered by Lasova, intended for donors who want to ensure that their donations are used for their intended purpose – guaranteeing food for underprivileged people.

Lasova card funds are managed in a separate bank account and are not used to fund Lasova’s other activities.

Only severely disadvantaged people receive Lasova cards. Applicants fill out a detailed questionnaire to ensure that they qualify for the Lasova card. Welfare authorities check the veracity of the answers in the questionnaires.

This is how we prevent giving the card to the “voluntary poor” or to individuals who prefer to receive aid instead of making an effort to earn a living on their own.

Interested in donating a Lasova card?

We aspire and expect that the Lasova Card will be the main tool in the hands of Israeli society in general, and for those with economic means in particular, to help prevent food shortages and malnutrition among those in dire need, and to ensure that those in need who deserve assistance have the ration of meat and poultry required for proper nutrition.
